State Court Civil accepts and processes civil filings regardless of the amount unless the Superior Court has exclusive jurisdiction. State Court of DeKalb County is mandatory e-file. Therefore, all parties must register at https://efilega.tylertech.cloud/OfsEfsp/ui/landing
A party may file at anytime using the online portal (processing fees may apply). Public access to the portal is also available during regular business hours at the courthouse.
The Criminal Division of DeKalb County State Court, Division A oversees the prosecution of misdemeanor crimes and traffic offenses such as DUI and Vehicular Homicide, committed in DeKalb County. A case is initiated in State Court when the Solicitor General accuses a citizen of a criminal or traffic offense by filing a document with the Clerk’s Office.
Application for citations and warrants should be made at the Clerk’s Office located at Magistrate Court Criminal Division between the hours of 8:30 am to midnight seven (7) days a week.
Magistrate Civil processes small claim cases brought by a plaintiff (individual, organization, business, institution, or government body) against a defendant. The maximum for these cases is $15,000.

Given the statewide State of Emergency and in accordance with the Judicial Emergency Order issued by DeKalb County Chief Superior Court Judge, Shondeana C. Morris, all courthouse divisions of DeKalb County State Court will be closed from Sunday, January 25, 2026, beginning at 8:00 am until Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 8:00 am when the Court will resume normal proceedings.

You must e-file your request. The pleading will be forwarded to the judicial case manager.
You can request a copy of the transcript with the Judge’s staff. Fees may apply.

File a Notice of Appeal and pay $25. Include case number and specify whether you are appealing to the Georgia Court of Appeals or the Supreme Court of Georgia.
