Welcome to the DeKalb County State Court Probation Department, created and legislated by the governing authority September 16, 1992, through HB 1607. We are a full-service law enforcement agency, made up of administrative staff and POST certified, sworn officers who protect and serve the community. The Probation Dept. is an integral part of the criminal justice system and law enforcement community of DeKalb County, Ga. The hard-working men and women of DeKalb County State Court Probation are proud of the contributions supporting and servicing the State, Magistrate and Superior Courts of DeKalb County, Ga. In doing so, the probation department assists adult offenders in making positive changes to their behavior, helping victims and delivering effective prevention and intervention services that makes for safer and healthier communities in DeKalb County, Ga.
All payments may be made in person at the Probation office located at 556 North McDonough Street, 3rd Floor of the DeKalb County Courthouse, Admin Tower or at 3630 Camp Circle Decatur, Ga 2nd Floor of the Bobby Burgess Bldg. Each probationer is provided Probation Officer information once he/she reports to the office. You may also call our main number at 404-371-2822/2657/3232 to retrieve that information.
No, all community service agencies on our list are approved through the presiding DeKalb County State Court Chief Judge and Chief Adult Probation Officer.
Yes, it is mandatory all probationers report every month unless otherwise advised by the supervising Probation Officer.
Yes, all probationers are expected to report in person unless otherwise advised by telephone, mail, email by the supervising Probation Officer.
Yes, a Letter of Closure on our Letterhead will be provided upon request when all terms and conditions are confirmed completed by the supervising Probation Officer.
Yes, however, you will need the name and case number of the person for who you are making a payment on probation letterhead.
Yes, and you will need DeKalb County State Court Probation Officers have the authority to visit someone at his/her place of residence or work for compliance reasons.

Given the statewide State of Emergency and in accordance with the Judicial Emergency Order issued by DeKalb County Chief Superior Court Judge, Shondeana C. Morris, all courthouse divisions of DeKalb County State Court will be closed from Sunday, January 25, 2026, beginning at 8:00 am until Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 8:00 am when the Court will resume normal proceedings.

The solicitor’s office accuses cases within two years of the arrest or citation. Therefore, the Clerk’s Office does not know when an accusation will be filed. Please contact the Solicitor’s Office (404) 371-2201
