Marshals Divisions

Court Division

The Court Services Division is responsible for providing security and assisting with the orderly running of all DeKalb County State and Magistrate Courts. Civil and criminal courts adjudicate cases, penalize those found guilty of violating the law, and protect the constitutional rights of those brought before them. Violence or a threat of violence in the courtroom would have a profound negative impact on the court’s functioning. The DKMO will strive to ensure that the appropriate levels of security prevail in the court and/or courtrooms to protect the integrity of court procedures, to sustain the rights of individuals before it, and to sustain the decorum of the court.

Field Services Division

The Field Services Division is responsible for the service of civil processes from the State and Magistrate Courts. They are responsible for serving various lawsuits, garnishments, subpoenas, levying against property to satisfy judgments, carrying out court-ordered evictions, as well as bench warrants processed by the State and Magistrate Courts. They also patrol and assist neighboring agencies to protect life and property, arrest violators of the law, and enforce all laws and ordinances coming within the Office’s jurisdiction.

Support Services

The Support Services Division is responsible for all training, weapons, uniforms, supplies, and information technology. They also control the Marshal’s Entry Team, which is deployed for high-risk evictions.

Internal Affairs

The Internal Affairs division investigates all complaints, plausible suspicions of lawbreaking, and professional misconduct attributed to all employees who are employed with the DeKalb County Marshal’s Office.
